Useful information for interviewing at the JOB MARKET at SIMPOSIO DE ANALISIS ECONOMICO

INSTITUTIONS

1.- Please register at the web. Just click on “Institution Access” and follow the instructions. It is important to fill in all the information. Please register before the end of September (just when submissions for job-market papers end). Registering in this page gives free advertising for your position and it allows us to have information about you. Notice also that this page allows you to search over a long list of candidates by field of interest, or any other criterion you wish.

2.- At least one person of your interviewing team must register in the Simposio through the web page*. Notice this is a separate registration from step 1. Recall the deadline is October 31 st . Of course, it is much better if all members of your interviewing team register for the Simposio, your fees will keep the conference going and it will allow you to participate in meals, trips and all events.

3.- Decide what candidates you want to interview at SAE2008. You should arrange a meeting with each candidate. Most institutions devote half an hour to each candidate. Please do this by the end of November, first few days in December.

4. During the Simposio there are many job market sessions. Students give short presentations of their paper in these sessions. You can attend these to obtain more information about the candidates.

5.- Tell the Local Committee about your needs for office space. For this purpose send an email*. There are two possibilities for interviewing:

- Interviewing at the Simposio facilities. The local Committee will provide you with an office in the same building where the Simposio takes place. These will be allocated on a first-come first-serve basis. The rental price is * euro per day, in any case please send your request before December 4th .

- Interviewing at hotel rooms or suites. Notice that hotels * are close to the Simposio. You should arrange this directly with the hotels and let the candidates know how to get in touch with you.

CANDIDATES

1.- Submit your paper to the Simposio for consideration by the scientific Committee. If your paper is selected you will then be able to present it in the job market sessions of the Simposio. Please note that the deadline is *.

2.- Register at the web. Just click on “Candidate Access”. This gives you free advertising and it gives you a lot of information on jobs posted. You can also use this page to apply for a position at an institution, although be aware that some institutions may require you to send an application by regular mail separately. The page can be used also to distribute your CV, papers and recommendation letters to interested institutions. Please register before the end of September.

3.- Register in the Simposio through the web page*. Notice this is a separate registration from steps 1 or 2. Recall the deadline is October 31st . Your registration fees will keep the conference going. The local Committee and the program Consolider from the Ministery of Science and Education provide grants to pay for the registration fees of students. This will allow you to participate in meals, trips and all conference events.

4.- Institutions interested will be in touch with you to schedule an interview by the end of November or early December, and they should tell you when and where the interview will take place.
